Tablet Repair: Which Fixes Are Most Common?

Some tablets never need repairs, while others always seem to be in the repair shop. Read here to find out which tablet repairs are the most common.

As much as you love your laptop, you’re tired of it burning your legs when you put it on your lap to work. So, you invest in an iPad that you can use instead. This method works for a while, but soon your iPad starts having issues.

It’s refusing to turn off. Sometimes when you pull up an app, it crashes for no reason. Don’t worry, these are common reasons why people seek out tablet repair. They’re not the only problems users face either.

Experiencing them doesn’t mean that you need to shelve your device. Instead, follow along with this guide to learn how to fix common iPad issues.

Your iPad Refuses to Turn on or Off

You're working on your iPad when all of a sudden, it decides to freeze up on you. When you attempt to turn it off, the device doesn't respond. Don't worry, there is another way you can turn it off.

Some iPads have a home button and some don't. If yours doesn't, you'll have to press and release the volume up button, then press and release the volume down button. Follow it up by holding down the power button and it should reset.

If your iPad does have a home button, you'll press that along with the top or side buttons until the Apple logo pops up.

The Apps are Acting Wonky

One second, you're enjoying a game on your iPad then it suddenly stops working and freezes on you. Sometimes you'll get a little pop up that will tell you that the app has crashed, other times, you won't. If you do get the notification, press the force quit option to close it. If the notification doesn't pop up, you can swipe down and close it from the multitasking menu.

When you reopen the app, it should start working again. If it continues to crash, you should check to see if the program needs an update.

Developers are always updating their apps to stop crashes from happening. If you don't have the latest version of the app, that's most likely your issue.

There's Music Playing and You Can't Stop it

This is the most annoying problem that you can come across. You had music playing on your iPad and now you can't stop it. You've tried going into the app to pause the music, but it won't open.

You can get to the pause/play menu from your lock screen. You can also attempt to quit the app. If none of these options work, the only thing you can do is restart the device.

You Can't Get It Out of Portrait Mode

You want to lay in bed and scroll through Netflix and YouTube for a bit. No matter how hard you try, you can't get the device to switch to landscape mode.

There are some apps that won't let you make the switch. So, before you start trying to fix the device, make sure that there's a problem in the first place.

If the app allows landscape mode, check your settings to make sure the orientation isn't locked in portrait mode. Once you turn the rotation lock off, you should be good to watch videos to your heart's content.

Battery and Power Problems

One issue that many iPad owners complain about is a bad battery. We're here to say that many times the battery is fine. The problem lays with the apps you're using or your charger.

You may have downloaded an app that isn't optimized well for your iPad. Once you delete the application or do a factory reset, it should run fine again.

If this doesn't fix the issue, try buying a new charger before you take the device in for repairs. The one you have now might be faulty.

Your Screen isn't Working

You're trying to browse through the internet on your iPad but the screen isn't working. There are a few things you can try to get your device going again before you pay the iPad screen replacement cost.

You might be using up too much RAM. Free some up by closing any apps that you're not using. This includes the ones that are running in the background.

If the screen is still being sort of unresponsive, turn the device off and turn it back on again. If none of that works, you'll need to visit a repair shop

Your Computer Can't Recognize Your Device

You can charge your iPad and move files over by plugging it into your computer. Unless your computer doesn't recognize the device. You might have to replace the drivers if this is the case.

You can also try updating the iPad's software or make sure the USB box on the device is checked.

It Won't Connect to Your Wi-Fi

You're trying to connect your device to your Wi-Fi and aren't having any luck. This is a pretty easy fix that simply involves putting the device in airplane mode for a few seconds.

That will reset the Wi-Fi on the iPad and allow you to connect.
