Support Nebraska Fair Repair Legislation

Nebraska Legislative Resolution > LR 598 > Formerly LB 1072

What is Right to Repair | Fair Repair Act?

Nebraska state legislation requiring Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to provide free and reasonable access to REPAIR information and tools so citizen-owned devices may be readily fixed at competitive prices.

WHY Fair Repair?

  1. Improve access to timely repair > many “authorized repair providers” are at a great distance from Nebraskans or have deep service backlogs while countless repair needs are on a critical path

  2. Restore competitive pricing > stop OEM price gouging, provide consumer choice

  3. Lengthen life of device > save consumers from unnecessary upgrade or obsolescence purchasing

  4. Deflect electronics waste  > e-waste recycling is expensive, often unavailable, and does not recover the environmental costs of production.

Protect Nebraskans

Nebraskans deserve the right to choose who repairs their devices, how they are to be repaired, when they are to be repaired, and at what addition to having control over when they will replace the device. We must reduce the total control OEMs maintain over devices consumers own.  Nebraska must lead the way.
